Akin is provided by Mathieu Urstein, an individual in Lausanne, Switzerland, who runs it alone.

Using Akin

Write to support@akin.social with any question about Akin, or to contest a decision. A person answers.

To report someone or a message, use Report in the chat’s menu instead: it blocks them at once and is handled faster than an email.

Privacy

For a copy of your data, a correction, a deletion or any question about the privacy policy, write to privacy@akin.social.

Authorities

Authorities write to legal@akin.social.

Notices

Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content in Akin they believe is illegal, at legal@akin.social. The link fills in what a notice holds:

• Why the content is illegal, explained as precisely as you can.
• Where it is. A shared request or offer has its own link, akin.social/r/…: give it if you have it. Otherwise give the person’s first name, the words of the request or message, and the date you saw it.
• Your name and email, unless the notice concerns child sexual abuse.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.

What follows

1. We confirm that the notice arrived.
2. A person reviews it and decides, telling you the decision, its reasons and how to contest it.
3. We tell you whether automated means were used to handle it.
